In 2006, the non-profit ThreeSixteen Skateboarding was given a donation by a private investor to build a spot for skaters in the
Philadelphia region. Jon Crans of ThreeSixteen came up with the idea to have a bowl built. “I wanted to build a spot, not a skate park.
A place where any skater could just show up and skate. No fee, no pad issue, just skateboarding fun.” The bowl design came from Dave
Berthold, owner of the ’80′s & ’90′s skateboard brand Blockhead Skateboards. In the summer of 2007 Team Pain took Dave’s design and spent two weeks erecting the bowl.
The 1,200 square ft structure is 4.6ft in the shallow end and 5.6ft in the deep end with a 6.6ft extension with pool coping. It has a solid layer of Ramp Armor which stands up against the North East nastiest weather. The bowl has seen the likes of Ray Barbee, Mike Maldanado, Chuck Treece, Jay Sigafoos and many other rippers.
Located just outside of Downingtown and Coatesville, in Brandamore, PA at the Camp at Old Mill. Skate sessions go down every Thursday night from 6-10PM. April-Nov. (weather permitting) Skaters under 18 years of age will need to have their parents sign a waiver. Waivers can be downloaded at three16.com.
